Artist Statement

I create art because it anchors me with a sense of well-being and infinite possibility.  When I pick up my tools, I feel excitement with the unexpected results and wonderful surprises that ensue. In this creative zone, I feel liberated from the constraints of daily life and especially free of time.

Metal, fire, wind, and water are the elements with which I work. I am inspired by the female figure both in the context of my sculpture and my painting.

My work is kinetic and interactive, inviting people to experience not only the visual sculpture, but also the force of the wind or light or sound or touch that the sculpture provides.

I particularly enjoy working with discarded materials, demonstrating how the artist can recycle, reuse and bring new life and meaning to ordinary items.

Brief History:
Although I have worked mostly as an architect all of my adult life.I have been producing art all of my adult life. Two years of art school and a willingness to learn while creating has allowed me to create art outside the architecture studio. In the past I have shown, and sold a few pieces of my paintings and sculptures to other artists and friends.

I have only in the past ten years, begun to paint and sculpt with more vigor and regularity. I consider myself an emerging artist, one who is beginning to share my creations with the general public.

The mediums I’ve worked with recently include: ceramics, metal & oil paints on canvas. My most recent work has been in metal.
